James D. Morgan Post #70
Onoway, Presque Isle County, Michigan

Organized April 2, 1914

There are no conclusive indication of which James D. Morgan this Post was named to honor. However, it is possible that it was James Morgan of Lansing, Michigan who served in Company C, 14th Michigan Infantry. He enlisted December 7, 1861 at age 30. He died of disease on October 20, 1862 in Nashville, Tenn.

The Post was Mustered with 15 Charter Members.

The first Post Commander was Samuel S. Towner who served in Company A, 10th Michigan Infantry.

The Post met at City Hall on State Street. In December 1914 they met in the G.A.R. Hall on First Street and in 1915 the G.A.R. Hall on State Street.

Samuel S. Tower served as the last, and only Post Commander.

The final Report was filed December 31, 1922 with 11 Members.

The Post was disbanded in 1925.
