It is unclear which Dewey this Post was named to honor.
The list of Charter Members was not attached to the letter from the Mustering Officer in the file, although that count may have been 19 Members.
The first Post Commander was W. W. Cook who enlisted in Company E, 1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics on February 1, 1863 and was discharged July 1, 1865.
The Post met at their Hall on Bellevue (Main) Street.
The final Report was filed by the Post December 31, 1924. A note was attached to this Report indicating " Holden L. Albro died March 12, 1946 - was buried in Lane Cemetery (last Commander - last Member) on March 15, 1946 - Leah Simpson Marshall represented the G.A.R."
The Post was disbanded in June 1926.
