Jacob G. Fry Post #46
Ganges, Allegan County, Michigan

Organized February 27, 1882

This Post was named to honor Jacob G. Fry of Ganges who enlisted in Company B, 13th Michigan Infantry, at organization as a 2nd Lieutenant on October 3, 1861. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on July 31, 1862. He resigned on account of disability on January 31, 1863. 

The Post was Mustered with 14 Charter Members.

The first Post Commander was William H. Dunn. He enlisted in Company E, 5th Michigan Cavalry. He also served in Company D and E of the 10th Michigan Cavalry. 

The Post met at Grange Hall, (Clapps Hall) in Ganges. By 1909 they were meeting in the homes of members. In 1912 they report meeting in the office of the Adjutant.

It appears that the Post was suspended in 1907, no Reports were filed. Reinstated on December 31, 1908. The Report indicated the reinstatement date of April 27, 1909. No reports were filed in 1909, but the Post was reinstated on December 31, 1910. No Report was filed for 1913. The last Report was filed June 30, 1914 showing 11 Members. 

The last Post Commander was William H. Breidenstine. He enlisted in Company G, 20th Michigan Infantry on July 3, 1862. He was discharged on a Surgeon's Certificate of Disability on December 9, 1864.

The Post was disbanded in June 1916.
