Camp History

HENRY H. NASH

Rank and organization: Corporal, Company B, 47th Ohio Infantry. Place and date: At Vicksburg, Miss., 3 May 1863. Entered service at: Adrian, Mich. Born: 4 March 1842, Lanawee, Mich. Date of issue: 15 February 1909. Citation: Was one of a party that volunteered and attempted to run the enemy's batteries with a steam tug and 2 barges loaded with subsistence stores.

Henry Nash was born in Lenawee County, Michigan.  He was a farmer.  Enlisted as a corporal for three years at Adrian, Michigan.  Mustered, Camp Denison, Ohio into Co. B, Forty-seventh Ohio Infantry, July 20, 1861.  He was captured by the enemy on May 3, 1863 and paroled at City Point, Virginia on May 23, 1863.  Mustered out in Atlanta, Georgia on August 20, 1864 due to expiration of term.  He was awarded the Medal of Honor on February 15, 1909.  Lived in Palmyra, Michigan (Lenawee County) after the war.

ADDISON J. HODGES

Rank and organization: Private, Company B, 47th Ohio Infantry. Place and date: At Vicksburg, Miss., 3 May 1863. Entered service at: Adrian, Mich. Born: 1841, Hillsdale, Mich. Date of issue: 13 December 1907. Citation: Was one of a party that volunteered and attempted to run the enemy's batteries with a steam tug and 2 barges loaded with subsistence stores.

Addison Hodges was born in Hillsdale, Michigan in 1841.  He was a farmer.   Enlisted as a private for three years at Adrian, Michigan on June 15, 1861.   Mustered, Camp Denison, Ohio into Co. B, Forty-seventh Ohio Infantry, July 29, 1861. He advanced to the rank of corporal in September 1862. He was captured by the enemy on May 3, 1863 and paroled later that month.  He was listed Missing in Action on May 3, 1864 and imprisoned at Andersonville.  Addison was paroled from Andersonville on September 23, 1864.  He was mustered as a veteran in February of 1864.  Promoted to Sergeant July 1, 1865 and discharged at Little Rock Arkansas on August 11, 1865   He was awarded the Medal of Honor on December 13, 1907.  Lived in Washington, D.C. and Adrian, Michigan (Lenawee County) after the war.
